Kara’s Collection: I know this guy...

I know this guy who loves Jesus in such a way he helps us all to calm down a bit. This particular gentleman can calmly lead a group with grace and conviction. I love listening to the teachings of this man as I get to see how he lives it behind closed doors. I have known far too many men that live duplicitous lives.

Finding grace in the dance of showing up

Finding grace in the dance of showing up

Wednesday afternoon found me at David C. Cook in a meeting about the upcoming release of Just Show Up. I wasn’t sure what to expect—I’ve never been in a meeting like that. Surprisingly, I found myself fighting tears: the team spoke so highly of Kara and wanting to preserve her legacy and her ministry of finding grace in the hard and loving big. I was moved. So moved. And I knew that if I let the floodgates open, I wouldn’t be able to close them. So I gulped the tears back down and hopefully continued on in a semi-intelligent, coherent manner.

Kara’s Collection: Oh my anxious heart...

Shall I write a post about how I believe this, but how difficult this is for me right now? I will say, I believe Matthew 6, in its entirety, is one of the hardest chapters in the Bible. Care for the poor, but don’t toot your stinking horn about it. Pray, but don’t pray for attention. Forgiveness and fasting, storing up treasures in heaven, OUCH! And the real clincher, don’t be anxious. And really the heart of that is. TRUST ME.

New Place to Gather

New Place to Gather

So even from Heaven, Kara’s influence has prompted us to gather and become friends. I can’t even believe the weekend we have had at our new Facebook group!! So many heart-breaking, joy-filled stories of grace. Hearts shared. Fears and doubts exposed and prayed over. Sorrows expressed, comfort extended. In this place, kindness and grace rule, and I am overwhelmed.

Kara’s Collection: The Power of Coffee

I love coffee. Love it! I struggled through chemo when I couldn’t drink it because of the awful taste in my mouth. But coffee is powerful. The smell reminds me of the place where Jason and I connect every morning. When I was really sick in bed, Jason would put a cup of coffee beside my bed. The smell encouraged me to wake up even if I couldn’t drink it.
