Last night at dinner, Aaron asked Von to say grace. It was short and sweet—a prayer only a 3-year-old could pray:
Dear Jesus,
Help us to have a wonderful meal
And help Jason and the kids remember
They are loved.
Amen.

I just love this community. It’s so special to my heart. I write about y’all in Just Show Up. You really are amazing the way you come alongside each other in suffering. So, so many in this group are going through really hard times, yet you continue to cry out in faith to God and encourage one another in love. I’ve seen many comments in this group from those who have lost loved ones, who are fighting cancer or choosing to make good days out of really hard ones. Your determination to cling to God in the midst of hard stuff is not lost on me.

I love many things, but in 2012 I have loved Jesus, my hunky husband, my kids, my girlfriends, and the many mothers that have cared for me and my family. I love a hot fire in my fireplace, and I stinking love hot wings and anything flavored with buffalo flavoring. I don’t know what is so amazing about those buffaloes, but hot and tangy together are a hit in my book. 2013 will bring a new exercise regime and diet, but I will still take a break for some wings. I’m a bit of an addict.
I was 11 the first time I sat down with a counselor. I remember the itchy orange upholstery on the metal-framed couch, the toys on the shelves that I would never be invited to play with, the windows that gave me a view into the hallway of my new elementary school.
