Kara’s Collection: Oh my anxious heart...

Shall I write a post about how I believe this, but how difficult this is for me right now? I will say, I believe Matthew 6, in its entirety, is one of the hardest chapters in the Bible. Care for the poor, but don’t toot your stinking horn about it. Pray, but don’t pray for attention. Forgiveness and fasting, storing up treasures in heaven, OUCH! And the real clincher, don’t be anxious. And really the heart of that is. TRUST ME.

I love coffee. Love it! I struggled through chemo when I couldn’t drink it because of the awful taste in my mouth. But coffee is powerful. The smell reminds me of the place where Jason and I connect every morning. When I was really sick in bed, Jason would put a cup of coffee beside my bed. The smell encouraged me to wake up even if I couldn’t drink it.

I have goals for the year to come. I have hopes for the year to come, but resolution? That just doesn’t sound like me. However, I certainly have hopes and dreams for this coming year.

I love many things, but in 2012 I have loved Jesus, my hunky husband, my kids, my girlfriends, and the many mothers that have cared for me and my family. I love a hot fire in my fireplace, and I stinking love hot wings and anything flavored with buffalo flavoring. I don’t know what is so amazing about those buffaloes, but hot and tangy together are a hit in my book. 2013 will bring a new exercise regime and diet, but I will still take a break for some wings. I’m a bit of an addict.

Oh, my heart is so grieved by what happened in Connecticut. I cannot imagine the devastation of that small community. We lived in the town next to Littleton after the shooting at Columbine. It was horrific, devastating, but in the aftermath we saw a new conversation begin. It was not a call for gun control or mental health services. There was a call to examine one’s heart. To look into eternity and examine what happens after death. Cassie Bernall was killed for her faith in Jesus, and her faith caused many to examine their own lives.
